I am Luca Saiu, a PhD student at Université Paris 13 living in Paris. As I spent the first 28 years of my life in Italy and did not study French, my ability to use it as a communication mean is still limited. My English is much better.

I obtained my Master Degree ("Laurea Specialistica", 110/110 "cum laude") in Computer Science at Pisa University in 2007.

My interests in Computer Science range from programming languages implementation to semantics; I also like computer architectures, networks, databases and AI.

Albeit being a strong C, C++ and Java programmer my favourite languages are Lisp and the functional languages such as ML and Haskell.

I deeply believe in free software, not only as a philosophical attitude, but as an actual coherent practice. I'm the author and maintainer of GNU epsilon, a functional language implementation (see http://www.gnu.org/software/epsilon), for the GNU Project. I am re-implementing epsilon for the third time now.

I have been the author and administrator of a collaborative website hosting the works by some of the Italian amateur writers of the Usenet group it.arti.scrivere; the site address is http://go.to/itartiscrivere. The site is currently offline.

I have been active in fighting against software patents in Europe.

I am convincedly atheist, rationalist, vegan.

My political position is Economic Left/Right: -9.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.05. (see http://www.politicalcompass.org)

My home page at Université Paris 13 is http://www-lipn.univ-paris13.fr/~saiu.
