An earlier editor has asked for citations regarding the latter part of the statement:

"Post boxes are cleared (emptied) at times usually listed on the side of the box. In metropolitan areas, this might be once or twice a day, while in country areas this might be once or twice a week."

It seems to me that that statement should also be clarified as to whether it is discussing the practice in a particular country, as this may well vary from country to country. Certainly, I have personally seen boxes in remote areas that are emptied less frequently than daily, but I can't remember where or in which country! TrevorD 16:35, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Have long have post boxes been in use? When was the first one set up? (Assume it was after the invention of postage stamps.)
