[edit] Discussion

I do have many plans for better introducing this article and expanding for international organizations. I also have plans for organizing the article and links to the organizations themselves better (probably in making a category page in addition to the annotated list, which I believe is most useful). --Kenneth M Burke 18:40, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] University Organizations

I have added university organizations to the see also list of this page. It seems that the types of organizations within the category for educational organizations do and do not fit the general thematic purpose of the page. Unfortunately, there is little to guide us in categorizing such organizations, some may be appropriate for the page, some not necessarily. Those under the category of university organizations appear to correlate with the organizations listed from the United States (but are not entirely focused on specifically the study of higher education). The university organization category is itself under review for recategorization. Considering these issues will lead to a better introduction for the page. --Kenneth M Burke 00:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Nevermind, you can't see also to a category page and categorizing it lists this page under the category (which I don't think would necessarily be appropriate or appreciated).—Preceding unsigned comment added by Kenneth M Burke (talkcontribs)

[edit] Annotated

If there are organizations you would like added, (but do not have time to write a summary) you can list them with the links and I will eventually get around to writing a synopsis for the organization if you like. --Kenneth M Burke 20:25, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

American College personal Association Need to be annotated, which I will take care of when my mind is in the right moment. --Kenneth M Burke 22:37, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed rename

Thanks for creating this list. It's getting fairly large now though, so I think continuing restricting its scope to the US is a good idea. May I propose that we rename it to List of university organizations in the United States: it needs a rename anyway, as the word "organizations" isn't a proper noun, and so according to the WP namespace guidelines should be uncapitalized. Really, I think diversifying the list with organizations outside the U.S. would be more preferable; then, if the list is too long, it could be broken up thematically. Something reflecting "post-secondary" or "higher education/tertiary" might also be more preferable. While I agree with the need for a name change and appreciate your suggestion, I might object to a U.S. specific name, would not want domestic/international organizations segregated out, and would instead encourage diversifying/thematic categorization of the list. --Kenneth M Burke 10:49, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I only say this because the educational organizations in the United States and then outside of the U.S. often have a much different emphasis and purpose, different frames of reference. I think there is much to gain in bringing them together on one page, particularly when the world today is so caught up in global trends but often fails to first make the most basic exchange of ideas. The rename is a good idea though. --Kenneth M Burke 01:14, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
How about, "Postsecondary educational organizations" ? --Kenneth M Burke 11:55, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
