[edit] Why?

Is this really nessessary? What happens to this article when we reach 2007? 2008? Beyond? Will it be renamed every year? That sounds kind of stupid to me. The future names up to 2010 are listed on the List of hurricane names page. This article adds little value. -- §HurricaneERIC§Damagesarchive 20:49, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. Should we continue the discussion here or at the list of Atlantic hurricane seasons page? Hurricanehink 21:11, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
It was discussed on the AHS list page...it's a lot easier to simply rename this article each year than it is to maintain articles for the upcoming 5 years (as was previously done, and needed to show the upcoming naming lists). — jdorje (talk) 08:28, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is this really necessary?

Who in the world wants to read future anniversaries for hurricanes? I doubt that this page has any use, but the anniversaries list is no doubt the most useless part of it. 87.122.23.82 16:38, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

It's here to list the future names so we don't have 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, etc. Atlantic hurricane season pages. Those pages do exist, and rather than just removing it I put all of them here. If everyone hates the anniversary list, go ahead and get rid of it. I just wanted to add something other than names, which appears on the List of tropical cyclone names. Hurricanehink 16:40, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
The anniversaries are entirely unnecessary. The article is necessary since if we didn't have it people would just keep creating new articles for each future year (as has happened in the past). — jdorje (talk) 22:57, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Alright, I'll remove them. What else could be added, if anything? It is going to be a simple list of future hurricane names. If that is the case, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 should just be merged with the List of Atlantic hurricane seasons. Hurricanehink 01:13, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, that's all that was in the original individual articles, right? I don't think that future names belong in List of Atlantic hurricane seasons at all. But maybe we should have a List of Atlantic hurricane names that lists all names from all seasons? — jdorje (talk) 01:15, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
That's always an option, not a bad idea. Hurricanehink 01:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I like this idea for an article, although I would move 2007 out of here onto its own page when the 2011 names are released (keeping one season ahead on its own page - which had been the standard). Don't go beyond what names are available for though! CrazyC83 02:39, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I dont understand this. We can't keep four seperate future hurricane season articles, but we can have an article for the year 2243?!
Obviously, the 2243 article is a stub and should be merged into 2240s. — jdorje (talk) 16:07, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Once the 2011 names are available, I'd put that season on here and give 2007 its own article back (many people want to see what is one year in advance). CrazyC83 23:49, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Names retired from 2006 season??

Have the names retired from the 2006 season been revealed?? When should they?? Georgia guy 23:22, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

They were revealed privately in e-mails, and the 2012 list will be the same as the 2006 list. CrazyC83 16:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Propsose redirect to Lists of tropical cyclone names#North Atlantic

This is redundant with the other list. I propose merging this article into the other one and leaving a section-redirect.
