[edit] Portal:United States

After this portal was summarily demoted for upkeep abondonment, Zaui and I automated the offending sections and made some other enhancements, e.g., updated the other sections, added automatic Wikinews updates and the new sections of Selected biography, Selected quote, On this day, and Featured content. What else is needed before this portal is renominated for FP? RichardF (talk) 15:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I think some editorial decisions need to be made regarding what pictures, articles and bios populate the respective 'selected' sections. There's too many political bios - there could be 'selected politician' separate from the bio section. There's only 10 photos and 10 articles. Obviously there's enough featured material to go around, but there needs to be a balance. Also, we should decide if we want a selected city or state (location?) section - if there's enough FAs to properly fill it. What about selected panoramic image (see Portal:Oregon)? And so on. We need to discuss these sort of issues and try some stuff before it goes to FP nomination. — Zaui (talk) 20:36, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Good thoughts. Would you prefer the discussions to occur mainly here or on the portal's talk page? RichardF (talk) 21:58, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
The talk page. — Zaui (talk) 22:01, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
