Thank you for helping Wikipedia. However the edit you made, adding Black- in front of some catagories, making links that don't exsist was inappropirate. And the picture makes it appear that this Actriss is white. I hope this wasn't vandalism. Martinkb ☎ 04:41, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] African American
Please do not add unhelpful and unconstructive content to Wikipedia, as you did to African American. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 16:39, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please take a few minutes and read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, especially Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Your views concerning the term "African American" are interesting, but Wikipedia is not the appropriate forum for disseminating them. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 07:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

- "HOWEVER, the fact that some have CHOSEN to use the label "African American" does not mean that it is the correct term." "I feel that it needs to be edited to correctly define who exactly is being explained---and since the article is not about African Americans (immigrants from Africa who are not American citizens), the terminology is not correct---which I explained above."
-
- This is called "soapboxing" — using Wikipedia to advocate for your individual point of view. If you wish to include your view in African American, you must find a reliable source that is verifiable that says something similar. Then, the appropriate place for your contribution is in African American#Criticisms of the term. Making a global substitution of the phrase "Black American" for "African American" will be considered vandalism and will be reverted. Continued vandalism of African American, Template:African American ethnicity, or articles about individual African-Americans or people of mixed race will also be considered vandalism and will be reverted. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 17:05, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

- I have no interest in debating with you the question of whether "African American" or "Black American" is "the proper term." Please read the Wikipedia policies and guidelines described at the top of this page. Wikipedia is not the appropriate place for either of us to "prove" anything or express our opinion. It is a publisher of information that can be cited to reliable sources. The material in African American has been referenced to roughly 70 sources.

- As I wrote above, if you find a reliable source that supports your feeling that the phrase "African American" is a "misnomer," please contribute constructively to the article — in the appropriate manner. Rewriting the article to suit the whim of a single editor will be considered vandalism and will be reverted. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 01:15, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Black American ethnicity
[edit] Template:Black American ethnicity
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Template:Black American ethnicity, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 17:09, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
