I'm sitting in my living room and have heard planes roaring three times in the last 15 minutes. And, they are not the usual learner planes. Just learnt that Hillsboro Airport is Oregon's second busiest airport; but, this frequency and type of noise (sounded like Jet plane)....there goes fourth one as I'm writing this...is pretty unusual.
What is going on in Hillsboro Airport?

[edit] History
It would be great if someone could find out some history and add a section. Like when it was built, tower added, second runway added, etc. Aboutmovies 20:56, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Student training
An anonymous editor added this to the lead:
- Well over half of these operations are due to the large amount of student training conducted by Hillsboro Aviation, the largest flight school in the state of Oregon. As of 2007, over half of Hillsboro Aviation's students are from overseas, usually Asia.
I suspect it is true from my experience listening to the tower frequency when flying in the area. But several assertions here need a cite:
- The volume of student training compared to other traffic. This seems challenging to find any information collected, let alone published.
- Hillsboro Aviation being the largest flight school in the state
- The overseas ratio of students at Hillsboro Aviation
- The ratio of Asian students
It seemed silly to pepper it with cite needed tags, so I moved it here for it to attracted sources. —EncMstr 07:56, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- If re-added most of it shouldn't be in the lead, even if cited. Though Hillsboro Aviation is on my list of articles to start due to lots of sources I've run across, so the largest thing is likely true. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:11, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- I happen to work there, at HAI. Although no one could ever interpret that addition as "promoting" HAI. To not mention in this article well over half of the operations are from student training is deceptive. It leads one to think that there is just a massive amount of traffic from..... what? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.107.25.154 (talk) 06:33, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Many people, including celebrities, politicians and sports-stars choose to bypass Portland International using Hillsboro for the ease and discreetness.

- Based on what? Personal experience? If that is the standard, fine. But it is much easier to verify what I added about the flight school than it is to verify celebrities flying into HIO. Many more celebs fly into Flighcraft at PDX than HIO on a good day. Joe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.107.25.154 (talk) 06:41, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Also, the restaurant closed years ago. 198.107.25.154 (talk) 06:45, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Changed the wording about control tower hours to give just the facts w/o POV. Also toned down the talk about celebs "bypassing" PDX. Sounded like sales talk. And yes, there has to be a mention somewhere of pilot training on this page. I did not even mention the FBO (HAI) so please leave this in. Joe71.38.147.247 (talk) 19:00, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
