[edit] Hamburg Habour
Hamburg's port is not called Hamburg Habour (please simply take a look on the official website). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 137.248.1.11 (talk) 15:24, 28 February 2007 (UTC).

The result of the proposal was - move to standard name as per other articles. Keith D (talk) 00:33, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
I propose that this article be renamed "Port of Hamburg":
- It is the official name -- Port of Hamburg is the official name for the port (official website), which is administered by the Hamburg Port Authority (offical website)
- It is the commonly-used name in the industry - Port of Hamburg is the name it is known by in ports and shipping publications and by governments ([1],
[2] and [3] to pick three from a lengthy list)
- It is a standard nomenclature for Wikipedia ports articles - (Port of Singapore, Port of Rotterdam, Port of Hong Kong are three examples)
- Hamburg Harbour is not commonly or relevantly used -- Hamburg Harbour is not commonly used in a ports or industrial context. Instead, it is used to describe the geographic feature of a harbour, and on tourism websites highlighting Hamburg's attractions. These uses are not relevant to this article, which is about the port and not the harbour. It is a truism to state that the tourism websites highlighting Hamburg Harbour are not referring to the heavy industrial complex that is the port.
This renaming has been proposed before in both 2006 and 2007, with several users in support and no opposition. However, nothing ever happened, I suspect because the redirect at "Port of Hamburg" makes a page move hard. The page was originally at Port of Hamburg but was moved without discussion by an anon IP a year ago. Since the redirect page has multiple edits it is not possible to move over the redirect to put the article back.
Other comments or views this time round are more than welcome. Euryalus (talk) 19:44, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have no further evidence to add; I support this move based on the arguments above. Knepflerle (talk) 11:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
