[edit] Port Klang or Port Kelang?

Should this article be titled Port Klang or Port Kelang? "Klang" sounds like a colonial holdover. The (American English) references I've run into spelling it "Kelang", which is consonant with the Malaysian spelling. Encyclopaedia Britannica 2004's entry also lists it as "Port Kelang". Google seems evenly split (23,000 "Port Klang" vs. 23,100 "Port Kelang"). Do Malaysian English speakers have a preference? -- Jeff Q 08:53, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I will shortly create a redirect from Port Kelang and wait a while for responses to this query. Unless someone can cite an authoritative reference for "Klang", I'll swap the articles so that Port Klang is the redirect for Port Kelang. -- Jeff Q 08:53, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I have swapped the pages as described above, so that the main article is Port Kelang. I have also updated the links coming from or through Port Klang, Klang, or Kelang. -- Jeff Q 09:59, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I've swapped it back to Port Klang. The official english name of Pelabuhan Klang is Port Klang. See ...

Sabre23t, I wish you had spoken up sometime in the month between my query for contrary indications and my actual update. Now there are a number of links that have become redirects, including several that are double redirects and are thus effectively broken. I was careful to fix all the links (as page movers are supposed to do) when I made the change. I guess I'll put them back, too. ☺ — Jeff Q 11:46, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Sorry about the the "double redirects", I'm certainly not yet a proficient Wikipedian. :-/ I'd respond sooner if I'd noticed the comments earlier. I've just learnt to use "my watchlist". I'm also more active in ODP rather than here. Feel free to email me if you need any feedback on anything Malaysia related. -- sabre23t 01:59, 3 Aug 2004 (UTC)
