Porullo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Porullo is a village in the state of Guanajuato, in Mexico. It is less than 7 square miles (18 square kilometers) in size. Located 3.6 miles (5.8 km) from the larger city of Yuriria, it consists of several sections: La Manguita, La Colonia, El barrio, and El tecolote.
Those who were born here and live elsewhere (primarily Illinois, California, Florida, and Texas) often return every year in the month of December. Weddings and Quinceañera parties are planned around this time of the year. Porullo is visited by men from most of the neighboring villages (including El Salteador, Zapotitos, and El Puerto) because of the un-married women in the village, 16 or 17 years of age.[citation needed]
