Portugaliae Acta Biologica (ISSN 0874-9035) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes novel research of special significance in all areas of plant biology. The journal contains rich literature about iberian and macaronesian cryptogams and has been published by the Botanical Garden of the University of Lisbon on a quasi-annual basis since 1945.
Until 1999, Port. Acta Biol. was published as two separate series, A and B, the first dedicated to morphology, physiology and general biology, and the second to systematics, ecology, biogeography and paleontology.
Current editors are portuguese botanists Mª Amélia Martins-Loução, Fernando Catarino and Ireneia Melo.
