Porte de Versailles is a station of the Paris Métro, named after the nearby gate in the Thiers fortifications (1841-45).

Nearby are the Parc des Expositions (exhibition ground) and the Palais de Sports (indoor sports venue).

In October 2005, construction started on tramway T3, the first tramway intended to operate in Paris proper, known as the Tramway des Maréchaux because it follows the boulevards that were built on the route of Thiers fortifications, which are named after Napoleon's marshals (maréchaux). It will connect Boulevard Victor RER station in the western part of the XVe arrondissement to Porte d'Ivry metro station in the XIIIe arrondissement and is projected to open in December 2006, with a stop at Porte de Versailles. Further planned extensions include a link to Porte de Charenton in 2011 and eventually Porte de la Chapelle.

In June 2009, the Valley-of-Seine tram (T2), which currently operates between La Défense and Issy-les-Moulineaux, is to be extended to the Porte de Versailles in 2009, allowing a transfer to T3.
