The Port of Liverpool Police is a small non-Home Office police force with the responsibility of policing the Liverpool, Bootle and Birkenhead Dock Estates. The force was formed on 19 June 1975.
Police officers of the force have all the powers of a constable whilst on the 70-square-mile (180 km²) area of the dock estates and up to 1-mile (1.6 km) outside the dock estate. There are about 55 police officers in the force. The Chief Officer is Ray Walker.
