Port St. Lucie, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area

The Port St. Lucie, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area is a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) consisting of Martin County and St. Lucie County in the state of Florida in the USA. The principal city in the MSA is now Port St. Lucie , located in St. Lucie County. In 2005 the population of the MSA was 381,033.[1] The Fort Pierce Metropolitan Statistical Area was first defined in 1983, and included Martin and St. Lucie Counties. In 1993 Port St. Lucie became a principal city, and the MSA became the Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2003 the name was changed to its present form and Fort Pierce was dropped as a principal city.
