It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2005.[1][3]
An extensive account of the Battle of Port Gibson is available.[3]
There is a separate Registered Historic Place named Port Gibson Battlefield, which was added to the register in 1972. As it has a distinct reference number, it may or may not cover a different area than the area covered by the National Historic Landmark for "Port Gibson Battle Site".
