"Porcelain" is a song by techno artist Moby. It is the third track from his album Play, and the sixth single released from that album. It was released on June 12, 2000 in the UK[1] and reached number 5 in the UK charts. The US release was released two months later, on August 22. The song appeared on the soundtrack to the 2000 film The Beach.
[edit] Composition
Porcelain contains pulsating string samples, piano rhythms and wandering solos by Moby. Vocals by Moby with additional vocals by Pilar Basso.[2]
[edit] Music videos
There are at least two different music videos for this song.
One video features Moby sitting in the back seat of a moving car but no one in the driving seat; the car travels through a town, a long open road, off the road into a forest then finally through hilly fields containing cows. The car narrowly misses crashing at times along the way.
Another video features a close-up of a person's eye and images within it resembling a reflection. This reflection is mostly of Moby singing the song but also includes a variety of people, both adults and children smiling, a baby and a close-up of a hand playing some of the piano parts of the song.
