Porangaba

Coordinates: 23°10′33″S, 48°07′30″W Porangaba is a municipality/county in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population in 2004 was 7,189 and the area is 267.48 km². The elevation is 525 m. This place's name comes from the Tupi language.

Porangaba is also the name of a small tree growing abundantly in the tropical rain forests of Brazil. Tea made from the leaves of this tree (also known as Cha de Bugre) is used in Brazil as an appetite suppressant and weight loss aid (no published human trials have been conducted).
