This category lists Portuguese people that opposed the authoritarian regime of Oliveira Salazar and Marcello Caetano from 1926 to 1974. Most of them were imprisoned, tortured or murdered by the fascist authorities, mainly by the political police, PIDE. Some of them also took part in the building of the modern democratic Portugal.
