Ponta Preta (Northern Sal)

Ponta Preta (Portuguese meaning the black cape, Capeverdean Crioulo: Punta Preta, São Vicente: Ponta Preta) is a point located in the northwest of the island of Sal in Cape Verde. Distance is approximately 10 km north-northwest of the island capital of Espargos. The point is the northwesternmost and it features a lighthouse.

The point are surrounded by rocky ledges with beach sand. It is accessed with a country road linking with the town and the rest of the island. A mountain covers the southeastern part while the rest of the land surrounding it are flat.

The point offers a view of the Atlantic Ocean as well as the northern portion of the island including Monte Grande and another mountain to the southwest.
