[edit] Question

Is the "animal, vegetable, or mineral" thing really in the show? If it is, then it would be a reference to the Major-General's Song. --M1ss1ontomars2k4 (T | C | @) 02:03, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Alternate Versions

Have just watched this episode through the on-demand service (Virgin Media) for the first time in about ten years, I don't know if these are the same versions as the DVD release as I don't have them. There is an alternate ending with the epilogue as mentioned in the article and in the scene with Rimmer's mum, her voice is dubbed. When the episode originally aired, her voice was more shrill and she spoke with a stronger Southern-English accent. I'm 100% sure of this but can't work out why they did it, funny the things you remember. Danny Darko 01:48, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

I second that - there are two versions. I watched BBC Prime's version whilst on holiday recently - it had an epilogue saying that the second polymorph was less intelligent and crawled into Lister's sock drawer, "where it died of old age" some years later. However the episode I just watched on an on-demand service showed the ending described in the article.
Further to this, the title sequences for the whole of series three, up until this episode at least, is different. On the sock-drawer version, we see a figure painting the ship and then a star-bug flying past, then through a comet with clips from Red Dwarf shows. In the other version, we just see the ship (no painter), and then the clips. Perhaps they were made for differences can be attributed to American TV vs. the advert-less BBC--82.153.105.157 (talk) 18:33, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
That's the remastered episode you're referring to. See Red Dwarf remastered. --Nreive (talk) 09:06, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
