[edit] Flag

The flag of SARD musn't to be here. it is defenitively not neutral (because pro polisario) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.206.81.74 (talk • contribs) 17:46, 16 September 2005

[edit] Voting

  1. I disagree. This page is not only about the Sahrawi republic, but as the title implies about the politics of Western Sahara (political status, political systems etc). Also, "Western Sahara" is common usage. Arre 15:25, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
  2. I disagree, see above. Electionworld 18:29, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
  3. I agree. this page is talking about politics of the SADR (self proclaimed republic) not of WS (disputed territory). Any way if you say that this page is talking about WS, the infobox should be without flags to comply with WP principles of neutrality. Daryou 20:24, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
This article is both about Western Sahara (the disputed territory) and the SADR. The SADR infobox should be here as the article is talking about the SADR. Whether the article should have another infobox for Morocco or Western Sahara (disputed territory) is another matter. Whether there should be a separate page for Politics of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic that just has information about the SADR is another matter. - FrancisTyers 21:13, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
  4. I, of course, disagree for the reasons stated above, and the simple fact that Daryou claims that showing this flag is somehow biased, but refuses to substantiate that claim with an actual argument. Justin (koavf) 20:59, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

  • Wouldn't WP:NAME support keeping the current name? - Spaceriqui 22:01, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Well, yes, I think so. Vote "disagree" above if you do too. Arre 22:21, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alleged POV

===>What's the problem? -Justin (koavf), talk, mail 16:41, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

When you see Western Sahara as occupied, then you are taking the stand of one side of the conflict. The territory is disputed, and not occupied. --SteveLo 07:13, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

===>Occupation Yes, the Sahara is occupied. That is a fact. -Justin (koavf), talk, mail 13:20, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

No, it is not a fact, it is a POV of one party of the conflict. WS is disputed, meaning, the issue can as well be independence or being part of Morocco. If it were occupied, the issue can only be independence, and not "confirmation" of occupation. I understand that you believe to the bottom of your heart that it is occupied, but there are also many who believe strongly it is Moroccan, so I hope we don't waste time arguing. --SteveLo 22:15, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

===>Fact versus opinion It is a matter of fact whether or not the Sahara is occupied. It's not simply a matter of taste or opinion. It is the POV of some people that the earth is flat, but that doesn't mean that every geography article on Wikipedia needs to mention this minority opinion. I have no idea what these sentences are supposed to mean "WS is disputed, meaning, the issue can as well be independence or being part of Morocco. If it were occupied, the issue can only be independence, and not 'confirmation' of occupation." Even if it is rightfully Moroccan, that doesn't make it not occupied. This is a classic case of military occupation. -Justin (koavf), talk, mail 22:38, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Map

A "self-published" map being used in this article (homemade by "Orthuberra " (pseudonym), see File history, 29 September 2006) is a primary source and cannot legitimately be used as a secondary source in this article according to the Reliable sources guideline and the Verifiability policy. I therefore deleted it.S710 09:32, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

You lost me. ¦ Reisio 09:40, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

That is rather a sketch than a map. Moreover it is far from being accurate by attributing to the Polisario some regions the Polisario itself does not claim to control(the strips between the wall and Algeria and to the south between the wall and Mauritania, in addition to all the coast going from the wall to the south of the peninsula including Laguira and nearly 70 kms of seashore).--A Jalil 13:14, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I guess someone could like fix it. ¦ Reisio 14:12, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
* That would not fix the matter that the map is "self-published". wikima 11:26, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
