Talk:Politics of Saint Kitts and Nevis

[edit] One or two assemblies?

The article originally said

" St. Kitts and Nevis has a bicameral legislature: an 11-member Senate appointed by the governor general (mainly on the advice of the prime minister and the leader of the opposition); and an 11-member popularly elected House of Representatives which has eight St. Kitts seats and three Nevis seats. "

This appears to have come from the US Department of State website [1], which would normally be an excellent source.

However, an online copy of the constitution at Georgetown University [2], and an online newspaper [3] based on the islands describes a single-assembly legislature where 11 elected members sit with a smaller number of appointed ones. On balance I think these are stronger sources, and so I have consequently updated the article accordingly. Jll 12:39, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
