[edit] Last raja of Coorg

This was Chikka Vira Rajendra. He was Hindu, not Muslim (as is indicated by the title Raja). AFAIK, he was deposed and exiled, not pensioned off, though I stand to be corrected on this. Imc 12:39, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Although RoyalArk, generally the best internet source in these matters, does not (yet?) have a specific page on Coorg, it clearly lists http://www.4dw.net/royalark/India/pensions.htm Coorg among the Pensioner states (its list is based on the specialized London colonial Superintendent's records). All pensioners ost their throne, several by formal deposition, often implicated in some revolt, and after accepting a pension exile was also common- a 'golden cage' kept them away and gave themsomething to loose so as to dissuade implication in future revolts.
