[edit] old talk

it is possible to provide a discussion and analysis of the more complex moves to the less expereienced players? also would it be possible for a page to be made offering a directory of famous games?

  • The only directory we have is provided by the category Category:Chess games. You'll find a few other famous games there, although we should add some more. Analysis of this and the other games would be good, but we have to base it on published analysis because of WP:NOR (an excellent policy). 165.189.91.148 15:28, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Game date

According to http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1100774 the game took place in 1929, not in 1935. Which one is correct? <- yeah...

I would prefer that we used the "official" date until it's assured that it happened in a different year than 1935. Fetofs Hello! 20:10, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Edward Winter (http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/winter06.html - note 3615) writes that the game had already been published in 1930, so only an extraordinary case of foresight could have the game played in 1935. WarmasterKron 13:00, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Right. We should mention Winter's research about the origin of this game in this article, giving references. Apparently it isn't clear when (or perhaps even if) this game took place. 165.189.91.148 15:28, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I've changed the article to reflect that. Fetofs Hello! 00:21, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Diagram

I've put a diagram on the page, but I'm not sure which position to get displayed there. Is it the beginning of the attack (Bxh2!) or the move that has two exclamation marks (Bg1!!)? Fetofs Hello! 20:13, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I would prefer a diagram after ...Bg1 as this is really the sacrifice move. ...Bxh2+ is not a sacrifice as if White plays Kxh2 Black wins the piece back with ...Ng4+ 91.105.50.10 04:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
