The Pole Hill page states that it is a coincidence that the trig point 19 feet to the East of the North reference Marker. However it would seem logical to have the trig point on the meridian to allow the Ordnance Survey Grid to be 'tied into' the line of Zero longitude. Does anyone know if the positioning was deliberate to allow the two co-ordinate systems to be tied together ?
