Poltavskaya

Poltavskaya (Russian: Полта́вская) is a village (stanitsa) and the administrative center of Krasnoarmeysky District of Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located on the Kuban River, 65 kilometers (40 mi) west of Krasnodar. Population: 28,639 (2002 Census);[1] 23,788 (1989 Census).[2]
Founded in 1794, it is one of the first forty settlements of Kuban Cossacks in the area. In 1933, the population of the stanitsa was forcefully moved to the northern regions of Russia for sabotage, and it was re-settled by the families of the Soviet military. At the same time, the village was renamed Krasnoarmeyskaya (Красноарме́йская). The village's original name was returned to it in the 1990s.
