Polluted Inheritance is a Dutch technical death metal band formed in 1989 from the remnants of Sacrement (Van Wijck and De Fouw) and Pollution (Camonier and Wesdorp). The band were shortly after joined by Hoorman who did vocals. They recorded a demo Afterlife in 1991 which led to a deal with West Virginia Records. Nevertheless Hoorman leaves the band and Camonier handles the vocals from then on. The album Ecocide was recorded and released in 1993. Unfortunately the label went bankrupt and Polluted Inheritance was left without a record company.

They recorded another demo, simply titled Demo 94, to draw the attention of the record labels. DSFA signed up the band and they recorded their second album Betrayed which is released in 1996. It is followed by a tour with Orphanage. DSFA is, however, not happy with the band's sales because of the complex nature of the music and decides to drop the band.

Disappointment leads to a period of very little activity and in 2001 De Fouw leaves the band. He is replaced by Vrieswijk. The band get signed again, this time by the small Belgian label RokaRola. Continuing their complex and technical approach, the band record a third album, Into Darkness which is released the same year.
