Poliya Polyester ve Yardimci Maddeleri Sanayi. (or simply, Poliya) was founded in 1983 by Ismet Cakar.^[1] a chemical engineer. Poliya is a composites and polymers company which operates in more than 23 countries throughout the world ^[2]. Presently based in Istanbul in Turkey, the company name comes from the initials of Poliester ve Yardimci Maddeleri Sanayi (which means polyester and auxiliary materials in English).
