Poliya Polyester ve Yardimci Maddeleri Sanayi. (or simply, Poliya) was founded in 1983 by Ismet Cakar.[1] a chemical engineer. Poliya is a composites and polymers company which operates in more than 23 countries throughout the world [2]. Presently based in Istanbul in Turkey, the company name comes from the initials of Poliester ve Yardimci Maddeleri Sanayi (which means polyester and auxiliary materials in English).

Poliya Composite and Polymers Inc.'s major business segments are;

  • Polipol, Polyester resins,
  • Polijel, High performance gelcoats,
  • Polives, Vinyl ester resins,
  • Polipigment, Pigment and color pastes for gelcoat and resin systems,
