Political positions of Dmitry Medvedev

Dmitry Medvedev was elected President of Russia in 2008 been endorsed by powerful incumbent Vladimir Putin. Some expect a power struggle will occur between Putin and Medvedev.[1]

CNN Money claims that "Medvedev's views about the economy have until now been largely obscured because of his role as part of the Kremlin bureaucracy, but he is seen as generally more liberal than his mentor, President Vladimir Putin."[2]

A Georgian pundit dismisses allegations that Medvedev is more liberal than Putin as "fabrication".[3]

In a campaign speech, Medvedev advocated private property, economic deregulation, low taxes, an independent judiciary, anti-corruption, and defending personal freedoms.[4][5]
