Pol Espargaró (born June 10, 1991 in Granollers, Barcelona) is a Grand Prix motorcycle racer who currently rides in the 125cc class for team Belson Derbi. Pol is the younger brother of Louts Aprilia 250 rider Aleix Espargaró

[edit] 2006, The Youngest rider to score a point in a GP
Pol Espargaró, arrived in the 125 World Championship in 2006 participating in the last six races of the year. This promising rider from Barcelona replaced the injured Italian Andrea Iannone at Campetella Racing and made his debut with the Italian team onboard a Derbi at the Czech Republic Grand Prix. Two months before, Espargaró had made history as a wildcard in the Catalunya GP when he finished 13th to become the youngest ever point scorer in a Grand Prix at the age of just 15 years and 8 days. His end of season run-in was spectacular, winning five consecutive races in Spanish 125cc Championship to become champion, followed by a 6th placed finish at the Valencian GP.
[edit] 2007, The First Podium
In 2007 the talented younger Espargaró aimed to further enhance the family reputation over a full season with Campetella Racing Junior Aprilia. The season start with two good results, a 7th at the Qatar GP and an 4th at the Spanish GP in Jerez, then a couple of Top 10's until the Catalunyan GP where he finished 5th. The next races Pol experiencing some difficult to follow the front group and he retired in a couple of races. The Czech GP was the turning point, a strong 6th position in the race gave him the necessary confidence to the follow GP, at the San Marino GP he gets a Top 5 finish, starting from 14th position on the grid. The Portuguese GP was the highlight point of his short career, a 7th position on the grid and a pace with the front group was his presentation card to the race, and the race was no desillution, Polyccio even lead the race for a couple of laps but Héctor Faubel and Gábor Talmácsi don't let him to escape from the group and in the final laps the duo pass to the front and between them was the dispute of the race, Pol finish 3rd his first podium in the category.[1] [2]

After running last year onboard a Aprilia RS125 in Belson Campetella, this season he switches the Aprilia for the Derbi, in this occasion an RSA and partnered by Joan Olivé.
