[edit] Category talk:Political parties by nationality
- This category replaced another category Category:Political parties by nationality in March 2005. The following was the contents of the talk page.
I saw a problem, since there is a category Political parties by nationality and a category Lists of political parties. They give entrance to the same kind of pages. I tries to combine this, but we have to make choices. I suggest to either keep one or to make the one category a subcategory in the other. See also the discussion in Category talk:Lists of political parties Gangulf 05:59, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Cypriot not Cypriotic
Im a newcomer and don't quite know how to change this without breaking links. The nationality is "Cypriot", not "cypriotic".
Misnomer
Parties can be based on nationality, but they are first based on the political unit they operate in, and that's usually a country, and not all countries are nation-states. --Joy [shallot] 23:06, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Misnaming
Every single category in this category is misnamed and defies Wikipedia naming conventions. It has been agreed that we should not have article names of the form [location] [object] (eg. South African political parties) because this requires not only the knowledge of the location, but how to make that name a possessive (South Africa -> South African). For example, how does one make Côte d'Ivoire possessive? It is simple enough for creators to search for it, but we have users to think about also - whom we cannot expect to guess the correct possessive every single time. This is why we have all articles relating to locations of the form [object] of [location] (eg. Political parties of South Africa, or Geography of Côte d'Ivoire). This simply uses the raw name of the state for ease of use, and for compliance with most other articles. Over the next several days I will be renaming these categories. -- Oldak Quill 23:23, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I noticed that political parties in Europe, China and the Free Territory of Trieste are all listed under "P". Please put these links in correct aphebetical order --Fantastic fred 17:15, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
