Point Grey Secondary School is an 8-12 secondary school located in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The main building was built in 1929 in a Collegiate Gothic style. A long running student rumour is that the building was initially planned as a women's prison, and only changed to a school shortly before construction was finished. In reality, construction of the school was commissioned by the Municipality of Point Grey prior to amalgamation with the City of Vancouver. The first students began classes in September 1929 and the building served as a junior high school until 1965 when it became a full secondary school. Also in 1965, a new wing was added with a gym, laboratories and a library. Recently in 2006, Point Grey, in conjunction with the Parks Board, completed a new artificial turf field, and have recently completed upgrading the track surrounding it to a rubberized surface. Point Grey offers Advanced Placement courses in Calculus AB, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology.[1]

[edit] PG Forum
Point Grey Secondary School also has a student created, student maintained discussion forum called PG Forum (formally: Point Grey Student Forum). The Point Grey Student Forum is a Point Grey club on the Internet which opens up a new medium where students connect, chat, and share notes with regards to the school. Established in January of 2006, the Point Grey Student Forum has been a huge success, with over 600 students from Point Grey participating making it the largest club in the school.
The forum already has approximately 500 pages of student notes/handouts on all subjects, many concert videos and photos taken over the schools years for downloading, and lots of information for the students, such as a frequently updated event calendar, a daily updated student bulletin.
The long term goal of this forum is to build a community for the students and provide a variety of resources that include notes and handouts. Additionally, there is a gallery that displays student artwork, and images taken from a variety of school events. Since the end of 2006, the Point Grey Student Forum has been recording school concert videos which are now freely published online. In recent months, the Point Grey Student Forum has taken up the job of documenting student concerts, and interviewing several performers. Through student and teacher support, The Point Grey Student Forum is a huge success and is looking for more ways to benefit Point Grey Secondary. It is located at http://pg-forum.com.
