Oy Pohjolan Liikenne Ab is the road services division of the VR Group. (Pohjolan Liikenne means Northern Transport in English). It is a major bus and road haulage operator in Finland.

The company has five freight companies:

  • Transpoint Oy Ab - a Finnish nationwide carrier of general cargo.
  • Combitrans Oy - handling partial and full-load carryings.
  • Oy Transuotila Ab - bulk transportation using tanker wagons.
  • SP Transit Finland Ltd Oy - international.
  • Transpoint UK Limited - International Freight Forwarding

There are 190 trucks, 453 trailers and 988 swap-bodies in freight service. The company’s fleet also includes 74 road tankers and 94 tanker trailers. Some 800 trucks owned by subcontractors are also used.

Pohjolan Liikenne operates a fleet of 292 buses. These can be seen throughout Finland, some operate in conjunction with ExpressBus services. The company was founded in 1940 and carried 11.7 million passengers in 2006.
