Peter Dickinson has been writing poetry for as long as he can remember. In the 1950s and 60s, he was the resident poet at Punch (magazine) where he wrote over two hundred poems. After he left the magazine to embark on his second career as a novelist, he continued to write poetry for pleasure and for the occasional commission.The Weir is a selection of his favourite and most memorable poems. Organised into four sections, the selection covers first, deeply personal poems; second, those he wrote chiefly to amuse himself or others; third, poems written for children; and finally a selection poems from the Punch (magazine) days.

This signed and numbered hardback limited edition of a hundred copies was published December 2007. A paperback edition was published simultaneously.

[edit] Biography

Peter Dickinson was born in Africa, but raised and educated in England. From 1952 to 1969 he was on the editorial staff of Punch (magazine), and since then has earned his living writing fiction of various kinds for adults and children. He was the first author to win the Crime Writers' Association Golden Dagger for two books running and the first author to win the Carnegie Medal twice. His books for children have been published in many languages throughout the world. His latest novel, Angel Isle, was published in 2007 by Macmillan Children’s Books in the UK and by Wendy Lamb Books (Random House) in the USA.

He has been chairman of the Society of Authors and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature He is twice married, with four children and six grandchildren.
