Hero Certified Burgers is a Canadian franchise[1] chain of fast food restaurants operating in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario.[2] The first restaurant opened in downtown Toronto's Hazelton Lanes shopping mall in 2003.[3] They are known for offering a more upscale hamburger than the typical fast food chain and make their burgers with 100% angus beef. [4] “We wanted to create a burger of the highest quality, that we could either take out or enjoy in a quick, casual and easy atmosphere. That’s what sparked the idea.” said brand owner John Lettieri.[5] Also to generate publicity for the company, Lettieri borrowed the 30 year old steer used in Chicago's Columbus Day parade and had it walk down Toronto's Yonge Street for its Pride parade.
