I'm Patrick Nosker. I am (will be in Fall 08) a sophomore at Rutgers University's School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program. For the past three summers I have worked there as a lab rat for my father at his research center in the School of Engineering. I am co-inventer of 2 pending patents in the field of fire retardants designed for the US Army at Picatinny Arsenal[1] and the Chicago Transit Authority[2]. In my research course in molecular biology and biochemistry, I discovered two novel genes and their proteins in Artemia franciscana. One is the gene that codes for the ribosomal subunit S10 [3] and the other is the gene that codes for the translationally controlled tumor protein-like protein [4]. I am a fanatic of Wikipedia, fighting teachers for the ability to cite it and use it as a research source. Wikipedia guided me through school arguably better than my textbooks did, especially in my AP courses. I plan on becoming a Medical Doctor thru the Rutgers University and The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey joint BS/MD 7/8-year program, if I get into it. My major is Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and my minor is Chemistry. Both of my parents have Ph.D.s so I am essentially required to advance far in education according to their standards. I am of Chinese (Taiwan), Irish, German, Swiss, British, and Norwegian descent. I learned Mandarin Chinese as my first language but can only fluently speak it. English is my primary language with some basic knowledge of French.
