On June 25, 2007 PMTair Flight 241 (U4 241),[2] an Antonov An-24, crashed in southwestern Cambodia, northeast of Bokor Mountain in Kampot Province. All of the 22 people on board, most of whom were South Korean tourists, were killed.[3]

The aircraft was making domestic flight from Angkor International Airport in Siem Reap to Sihanoukville International Airport in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.[4]

[edit] Passengers and crew

Of the sixteen passengers, 13 were South Koreans and three were from the Czech Republic. The Korean passengers were part of a tour group.[3]

The crew of six was made up of an Uzbekistani pilot and two Cambodian co-pilots, a Cambodian flight engineer and two Cambodian flight attendants.[3][5]

The airplane crashed about five minutes before landing in Sihanoukville.[3]

[edit] Search and rescue

The Cambodian government has been searching the crashed plane and its possible survivors by mobilizing its military forces and with aid of Thailand based US Naval P-3C. But bad weather and the location of crash site, deep in jungle, made effort of search and rescue team hard and difficult. Eventually, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced officially that SAR team located crash site and confirmed the death of all 22 passengers. Cambodian rescue teams said they will collect the bodies of passengers and transport to Phnom Penh as soon as possible. The coordinates of crash site is 10°50.982′N, 103°55.417′E, 167km South of Phnom Penh.[6]
