[edit] Questions

  • What should the final page be called? I was thinking Wikipedia:Notability (historical figures)
  • We have special exceptions here for military, political office holders and nobility/royalty. Do any other historical figures (scientists, religious folks) need to be included that cannot be covered with the "People who have non-trivial mention in one or more published secondary works (family history and genealogies excluded)" clause?

Well, there are certainly lots of "automatically notable" people (e.g. Nobel laureates, Popes, etc.); the question is whether we need to enumerate them all explicitly. Kirill Lokshin 01:51, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
The more I think about it, the more I'm wondering if we should just see if we can get the military criteria added to Wikipedia:Notability (people)? --plange 01:58, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Meh. If we're just limiting ourselves to the military criteria, adopting them as a project guideline should be sufficient, I think; I doubt anyone is really going to try to push the issue. The main notability page seems to go for general cases more so than specific ones, so I'm not sure that our points would fit in there. Kirill Lokshin 02:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
It does have some for actors, etc., but I'm thinking you're right. I'll keep this up for historical reasons, but the more I think about it, these types of guidelines are only probably needed if articles that should stay are getting deleted and it doesn't seem yet like we have that problem. --plange 02:09, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
