WikiProject Visual arts is a place for Wikipedians to discuss issues and organize information about the visual arts. Like any page on Wikipedia, all are welcome to edit and contribute to this project. Rather than try to force information to appear in a uniform way, this WikiProject presents guidelines to focus the effects of other Wikipedians. These recommendations about Visual arts content are based on various Wikipedia style guides and common practices for writing good articles. Use your own judgment in applying these guidelines, as well as all Wikipedia guidelines, to compose articles and be bold.
If you would like to help, see the How to help section below and ask questions on the talk page.

[edit] How to help
How you can help depends on your time, resources, and interest. Here are a variety of ideas for contributions ranging from simple to complex:
- Check for factual and spelling errors on visual arts pages.
- Improve the quality of existing articles, see How to structure the content.
- Check categorization of existing articles and help organize.
- List needed pages and create new pages, see Wikipedia:Requested articles/Culture_and_fine_arts#Visual_arts
- Create and edit pages about artists. See also Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies) and Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography for guidlines.
- Upload and add images to all visual arts pages. If any pages need images, it's visual arts.
- Add links to websites where more art can be viewed. Particularly with articles for which art is not public domain, thus uploading images to Wikipedia would be a copyright violation.
- Update Portal:Visual arts. The portal can hopefully be updated daily if not more often than that.
- Expand art stubs and artist stubs into full articles.
- Check references on visual arts pages.
- List questions, article requests and others on the talk page.
- Inform members who have displayed interest in the subject of the project via their talk page or the talk page of project pages.
- Contribute to conversations on articles listed here: Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Media, art and literature.
- Revert Vandalism on this portal and on articles to do with Visual arts.
- Contribute to work listed on the portal's Things_you_can_do section and the todo list.

[edit] Articles for deletion
It is important to have an input into Articles for deletion. There is now a special page for visual art articles, which needs to be maintained, updated and monitored. It can be found here: WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual arts. Articles need to be added manually: please add any AfD you want to draw attention to, and also put it on your watchlist.

- To thoroughly explore the visual arts globally and historically.
