Dec. 18 I have probably not done the right thing typographically on this entry. Please make any changes that will help. I think it would a good idea to show the music, so I have been looking at the various Wikipedia pages on music mark-up such as Lily Pond and ABC. I don't feel competent to try it yet.

Also, I can't get the Lists of Songs category at the bottomn to link. I get an error saying that there is no such category. But there is.Jeffmatt

[edit] New category?

Well, I fixed the List of songs category. It's all case sensitive; the category isn't "List of Songs", it's "List of songs." So, that wasn't a big deal. However, I think there's something pretty wrong with this set up. List of songs that employ counterpoint, as near as I can tell, should be a subcategory of "List of songs," and this article should be in that new subcategory. It's a bit of a tricky move, I think, but if you agree with me, maybe you ought to do that? I can, if you don't feel up to it, but not tonight. --ParkerHiggins 09:52, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Category confusion? or maybe it's me!

Thank you for your assistance. I am very much of a newcomer to Wikipedia. I admit to more than a little confusion about where songs go. I tried to follow the tree down from the main page looking for an appropriate place:

Lists of lists of songs → by topic→ miscellaneous→ list of songs by content→ style

When I got to "style," it seemed logical. I think there are too many lists, but maybe that's because I'm still feeling my way around.

When you get time, put it wherever you think is appropriate. I put two songs in that counterpoint category.

I went and downloaded the music mark-up program LilyPond (mentioned in the Wiki music pages). That will take some work. I am too old for another learning curve! I use a program called Print Music which works for printing paper, but even a screen save and then a conversion to a .jpg loses lots of resolution. I haven't tried .PGN. Thanks again. --Jeffmatt
