Play N Trade is a California-based video game store franchise. It is "the fastest-growing video game retailer" in the United States,[1] expecting to have more than 400 outlets by the end of 2008 and 1,000 stores by the end of 2010.[2] As of April 2008, Play N Trade has stores in over 40 U.S. states, as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam.[3]

Play N Trade stores sell new and used video games and consoles, and also accept trade-ins (including of old games). Services provided include disk repair, disc protection plans, console cleaning and repair, and a pre-purchase trial option, where customers can play any game in the store prior to purchasing it.[4] Play N Trade is the first video game retailer to host weekly in-store tournaments, as well as corporate sponsored national tournaments.[citation needed]

In 2007, Play N Trade was ranked Franchise 500 and New Franchise 50 by Entrepreneur Magazine and has been successful in recent years, almost doubling its nationwide stores in 2006.[5][6] Entrepreneur Magazine also named Play N Trade one of the top ten new franchises for 2008.[7]

According to CEO Yuvi Shmul, Play N Trade's competition includes Wal-Mart and Gamestop.[8]
