Play-Asia is a popular online retailer for entertainment products from Asia. Established in 2002, the website sells video games, DVDs, music, CDs, gadgets and toys. Play-Asia is based in Hong Kong, and focuses on the Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific region, but also offers selected products for international shipping to many other countries.[1]
Play-Asia sells games and accesories for all major current video game systems and computer operating systems. They also sell certain products for retired platforms such as the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo 64, giving the company a competitive advantage. The majority of large retailers have chosen to discontinue these products, but the internet offers Play-Asia more feasible distribution and profits. The website offer some bargain items and also offer discounted items that are pre-owned.
In addition to video games, the site also offers a wide variety of electronic goods, such as products from the Tamagotchi series and also offers grocery products.
Play-Asia has funded the development of side-scrolling shooter Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer.[2]
Play-Asia's biggest competitor was the now-defunct Lik Sang, but the site now competes with sites such as YesAsia.
