The Plateau Tiger Salamander or Salamandra (Ambystoma velasci) is a species of mole salamander in the Ambystomatidae family. It is found in Mexico and possibly the United States. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, subtropical or tropical moist montanes, temperate grassland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, rivers, freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marches, pastureland, and ponds. It is threatened by habitat loss.
