Plasmodium aegyptensis is a parasite of the genus Plasmodium subgenus Vinckeia.
Like all Plasmodium species it has vertebrate and insect hosts. The vertebrate host is the Egyptian grass rat (Arvicanthis niloticus). The insect vector is not yet known.
