Plantation Middle School is a middle school located in Plantation, Broward County, Florida at 6600 West Sunrise Boulevard. Construction of the school began in 1968 and the school was officially opened in 1970. The principal is Dr.Kwan Drake, Ed.D.

The athletic teams known as the "Patriots" are headed by Mr. Cedrick C. Maddox. Plantation Middle has a Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Track, Volleyball, and Flag Football team. In spring 2005 the Flag Football Team were the Regional Champions.

They also have cheerleading.

[edit] School Standards and Curriculum

Plantation Middle School's mission statement is "We, the members of the Plantation Middle School Community, are committed to ensuring that all students receive a quality education, within a safe and secure learning environment." It's uniform policy is to wear Red, White, Blue or Plantation Middle School spirit shirts. If a student is wearing something else besides them the student will be in AAA for the entire day. On the first day of the school the students will be given a schedule that lists the six classes the student will have to go to. The four required academic classes are Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and Language Arts. The other two are electives. Elective choices include Physical Education, Spanish, Art Appreciation, Pre-Law (8th grade only), Journalism and Band. Another elective called Literary Arts or Advanced Communications Skills (ACS)is another elective that is often required to take. Reading class is required for people who got below level 3 on the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assesment Test).

The discipline policy at Plantation Middle School specifies that if the student is tardy unexcused to school that person will get a warning and after that eventually that person will have more serious punishments such as Saturday School,or a referral. Based on the broward county discipline policy anybody that brings a gun, a knife or any other weapon, even something that looks like a weapon (such as a toy gun) will be automatically confiscated and the person will face 5-10 days of internal or external suspension.
