Planed Plant

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Planed Plant ("Children's Planet") is a sequence of Welsh-language television programmes for young children (very much like a Welsh CBBC) broadcast by S4C.

Although it includes such imported animated programmes as Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sabrina, dubbed into Welsh, Planed Plant also features a number of Welsh-produced programmes. Uned 5, the channel's flagship youth magazine show, was often introduced by Planed Plant until April 2005 when the programme moved to a new prime-time slot. Currently, one of the most popular shows is O Na! Y Morgans!.

Planed Plant is shown on S4C weekdays at 12.30–13.15 and 16.00–17.00. The lunchtime slot (renamed Planed Plant Bach) is devoted to pre-school programmes whilst the late afternoon/early evening slot is given over to older children's programmes.

[edit] Revamped service

On Friday 26 October 2007 , in-house production of Planed Plant ceased and was replaced by a service produced by independent production company Boomerang the following Monday.

As part of the changes, all but one of the previous presentation team (Alex Jones, Mari Grug, Alun Williams, Lowri Williams) were replaced by a new team of announcers/presenters. Newcomers Geraint Hardy and Meleri Williams present the 4pm-6pm strand for older children (Planed Plant) whilst actress/singer Rachael Solomon joins Gareth Delve (the only announcer to stay on after the relaunch) to introduce Planed Plant Bach at lunchtime. Alex Jones and Alun Williams continue to make appearances, albeit as freelance announcers.
