Plan Nine are an English rock band formed in early 2005.
Will Vaughan (vocals and guitar), Drew Woolnough (bass guitar and vocals), and brothers William "Saggie" Jones (guitar and vocals) and Dave Jones (drums and vocals) were all students at the Sir John Leman High School in Beccles, Suffolk when they formed the band.
They have played many top venues including the Norwich Waterfront and Norwich Arts Centre. In October 2006, Plan Nine were hand picked by chart-topping band Rooster[1] to play support at their sold out Norwich show.
In 2007 the band joined with manager Rob Edwards to record their official debut EP at Purple Studios in Norwich[2]. This record was released for download on March 17th 2008 on Average Bear Records[3]. The band have since parted with the management and are now working on their album in London.
Plan Nine are featured on BBC Radio Norfolk Introducing.

Recently, the band have been letting some new demos leak via their websites[4].

[edit] Trivia

  • The band originally started out as a trio with Will Vaughan on bass guitar, Dave Jones on drums and Saggie Jones taking the lead vocal and guitar duties.
  • Plan Nine can be found in the photo album[5] on the MySpace page of their New York friends The Mooney Suzuki.
  • The band's lyrical stylings are renowned for their cultural references. Topics covered include the TV series 24, Spider-Man and Lord of the Rings. Another recurring topic is that of the trials and tribulations of public school girls[6].
  • Plan Nine take their name from the Ed Wood cult B-Movie 'Plan 9 From Outer Space'. However, they make it clear that their name is always spelt with Nine as the word, and never the number.
  • Will Vaughan is a prominent figure on the progressive electronic experimental music scene[7]. Currently signed with New York label Dreamscape Records[8], he has 3 solo albums, an EP and a self-released Christmas Single under his belt. Folk legend Roy Harper has shown to be a keen supporter of his music[9].
  • In 2007 Dave Jones recorded his debut solo album, a concept album about a man's journey through war-time entitled Brandon's Vision[10].
