Plain Words

Plain Words is a style guide for British English written in 1948 by Sir Ernest Gowers, originally aimed at civil servants, and expanded and reissued in 1954 as The Complete Plain Words (ISBN 0-14-051199-7).

It was revised by Sir Bruce Fraser in 1973, and by Sidney Greenbaum and Janet Whitcut in 1986 (ISBN 0-11-701121-5).
