Placostylus ambagiosus paraspiritus is a subspecies of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Bulimulidae, the bulimulus snails and their allies.
This subspecies is endangered.

This land snail is endemic to Cape Maria van Diemen in Northland in the North Island of New Zealand.
[edit] Shell description
The shell is similar to Placostylus ambagiosus ambagiosus in size and shape, but with only the basal lip tubercle well developed. The coloration differs also in being dark warm brown externally and reddish-brown within the aperture.
The shell height is up to 72 mm, and width up to 32 mm.

Placostylus ambagiosus paraspiritus is classified by the New Zealand Department of Conservation as being Nationally Endangered.
