Placostylus ambagiosus hinemoa was a subspecies of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Bulimulidae, the bulimulus snails and their allies.
This subspecies of snail is extinct.

[edit] Dsitribution
This large land snail was endemic to the Cape Maria van Diemen area in Northland in the North Island of New Zealand. It is found only on the offshore island of Motuopao.

This snail is found only as subfossils in consolidated dunes.
[edit] Shell description
Compared with the typical Placostylus ambagiosus subspecies, this shell is of much heavier build and is proportionately broader with a greater spire angle. All five apertural processes are developed but the basal lip tubercle is the strongest.
The shell height is up to 82 mm, and width up to 37 mm.
